2009-02-28 [Glassphyxie.]: I still think it's awfully childish to throw a fit over something so small. And get so bent out of shape because he "won't admit to his mistake". He obviously doesn't think it's a mistake. He wasn't trying to be a dick. I see no reason for him to need to give you an apology. You. Some random lady on the internet. I think everyone should just get over it and stop being so damn offended by every little thing. I mean, it's not like he said something like "YEAH. HITLER HAD THE RIGHT IDEA." Several of my gay friends have seen these comments and think the way you're acting is immature and uncalled for. I present you with facts, and you present me with your silly opinions.
2009-02-28 [windowframe]: " Fact is, it IS a negative term" This is not a fact, unless you can prove that every word has an intrinsic definition regardless of how people used it. Which is -
philosophicall
2009-02-28 [*Leric*]: -_- anyway..this is way off topic of the wiki.
2009-02-28 [Glassphyxie.]: Oh. Someone else says you're wrong and suddenly you want to change the subject?
2009-02-28 [*Leric*]: You're extremely rude. I wasn't trying to start I fight I was simply stating my opinion. I believe it's offensive and I have a right to say that. I wasn't being mean about it, so you need to calm down and stop attacking people so unreasonably. Really, It only makes you look like a bitch.
2009-02-28 [Glassphyxie.]: I am calm. And no, I'm not rude. I defended someone that was being attacked for no good reason by two over opinionated people who are apparently so easily offended. And I don't care if I "look like a bitch". If you have a problem, I don't really give a damn. You can stuff it. I'm not being unreasonable. It's just strange that you stated your silly opinion several times, when it wasn't asked for, and then when someone else says you're wrong, you suddenly decide we should change the topic. I believe you're annoying. And I have the right to say that. (:
2009-02-28 [*Leric*]: right.
2009-03-01 [Yami]: Well now that I am back from my short vacation I suppose I will put my two cents in, yes I do believe that calling something that is stupid or unsatisfactory "Gay" is offensive, granted some homosexuals may not take offense to it, but some do, it's just like anything else. If you were to say to me "Hitler had the right idea." I would laugh and brush it off as a joke, however, if you were to say it to some others they would be offended. I think it would have been polite to have simply said. "I didn't mean to offend anybody, sorry." After offending someone, I myself am bisexual and yes it does rub me the wrong way when someone says that something is "Gay" I'm really not happy with the disrespect my fellow elftowners are having for one another on this comment board, I really am not. I would kindly ask that we continue the subject that this wiki is for and please refrain from using the term, or if you wish to use it, I think that saying "Gay, in the bad way" would be better, for this is what I say.
2009-03-01 [Pnelma Tirian]: This is, actually, way off topic for the wiki.
2009-03-01 [*Leric*]: I said that it was, but apparently some people wish to continue with this.
2009-03-01 [Glassphyxie.]: I'm not the one causing a shit storm over something so small. In fact, I've been laughing my ass off the whole time. I popped in to defend someone and certain people decided they needed to make things into a huge deal because they got butthurt. Because, you know, the internet is serious business and all, AMIRITE? If I'm such a bother, ignore me. That would be the logical thing to do, correct? It's obvious what I'm doing. And yet you continue to post with your oh so clever comebacks. The internet isn't a nice place. People are going to say things are gay. They'll say other offensive things. Now, [Yami], you said you'd brush the Hitler thing off as a joke. But some people would be horribly offended. Just as you are offended by someone saying something is gay. Do you see what I'm getting at? You're being civil about it. So I have nothing rude to say to you. As for the rest of you, get on with your lives. Also. Back on topic. One of the ads on the bottom of the page says "Edward Cullen is our homeboy." What the hell?

2009-03-01 [Lord Josmar]: So...Twilight promotes incest.
2009-03-01 [*Leric*]: o.o; how is that? aha
2009-03-07 [Lord Josmar]: if you notice when the vampires come in for the first time the girl introduces them all as brothers and sisters, BUT. She also mentions that they are all "together". Thus saying that even though they are brother and sister they are still "together"....
2009-03-08 [Give Me Red]: ahaha "hes a 108 year old virgin so hes obviously got some issues there" XD
2009-03-08 [Yami]: I love it
2009-03-15 [moira hawthorne]: hey everyone... you might be interested to check out just how whacked out violent twilight fans are getting.... http://twiligh

2009-03-20 [Lord Josmar]: Ok, get this. I work at Walmart and they are getting ready for the release of the DVD. I was joking around with one of the managers asking if we are going to have heightened security. He shocked me when he said yes!!!! He said that Home Office AND Universal have sent letters to all the stores saying that they need to have extremely heightened security.
2009-03-27 [Araglas]: Well I do believe I should tell Jamin about this he would absolutely love it
2009-04-02 [Angelic Chaos]: YES I LOVE IT!!!! THIS PLACE KICKS ASS!! PROPS!

2009-04-14 [Give Me Red]: hey I gottta leaves this wiki I like twilight now I didnt know twilight had baseball that makes it awesome :D
2009-04-14 [moira hawthorne]: hahaha lame
2009-04-14 [moira hawthorne]: hey guys.. check out this... http://elftown
2009-04-14 [Give Me Red]: you put up that link and Im lame :P
2009-04-14 [moira hawthorne]: yes! you're lame... or your reason for liking twilight JUST b/c it has baseball included in it is a lame reason for leaving this wiki... or liking twilight as a movie or book.
its like saying... well hilter was an asshole... but he was a failed landscape artist so i gotta love him!!! thats lame... hilter was a fuck up... not matter whether he picked up a paint brush or not during his life... he guy was insane!
2009-04-14 [moira hawthorne]: and that rant is brilliant and well written with awesome points!!!
2009-04-14 [Give Me Red]: lol no its not because hitler made a negative impact on a global scale including attempted genocide twilight has done nothing of the sort btw is hitler really a failed landscape artist?
2009-04-14 [moira hawthorne]: yup! he was...
2009-04-14 [Give Me Red]: neat I never knew that I just thought he spent his whole life in the Military
2009-04-14 [moira hawthorne]: he didnt spent his whole life in the military... he went to college as an artist... he just wasnt good enough... he did spent time in prison... thats where his wrote his manifesto... as i said... crazy fuck up!
2009-04-14 [Give Me Red]: ohh ok then nice and I love baseball more than i hate anything in the world thats why i like twilight now I agree but imo stalin was worse much more torturous than hitler he didnt want death so much as he wanted suffering
2009-04-14 [moira hawthorne]: so he is a crazy fuck up too...
but my point is liking something that is predominately bad b/c it marginally has something good in it is lame!!!
2009-04-14 [Give Me Red]: 10 minutes of baseball and 2 hours of overacting romantic scenes sorry but for me its worth it
2009-04-14 [moira hawthorne]: hey guys.. check out this... its a rant...its brilliant and well written with awesome points!!! http://elftown
2009-04-14 [Lord Josmar]: Actually Twilight has had a negative impact on a lot of people. And I clicked the links and nothings there.
2009-04-15 [moira hawthorne]: well the links work for me... its [Fireblade K'Chona]'s diary on twilight... see if you can see it by going to her house and diary by the mnormal methods...
2009-04-15 [Les chansons d'amour]: I think you have to be her friend to read the diary entries ^_^
2009-04-15 [moira hawthorne]: I will ask her than if its ok to repost it here...
2009-04-15 [moira hawthorne]: copied with permission... from [Fireblade K'Chona]'s diary
-but there's been something bothering me for quite a while.
Namely: Twilight.
For the record: I have read the first two in the series, after which I threw up my hands and went to go read something else because I didn't like them. I have read parodies of the third book and know quite a lot about the fourth book; more than I wanted to, frankly. (babynom=DO NOT WANT D:) So I do know what I'm talking about.
Now, on the level that these books are pure brain fluff, I don't have that many problems with them. I can accept that for some people, they can be entertaining enough to read, say, on a plane ride or something to pass the time and then set down and go do something else. I don't think they're written very well, but I have read worse books to pass the time. (admittedly the written-worse books had slightly more entertaining plots, at least for me, but that's not really relevant.) In short, I read 'em, didn't like 'em, but I can accept them on the level of pure brain fluff.
Upon any other reading other than pure brain fluff, the Twilight books disturb me. I mean, Edward is a textbook example of an emotionally abusive boyfriend. He controls who Bella sees, what she does, doesn't allow her to make her own choices-hell, he applied to Dartmouth when she decided she wanted to stay with him instead of going to college. Now, I'm all for going to college, and it's disturbing to me that someone would pick a guy over their education (if he really loves you HE WILL WAIT FOR YOUR BA) but that's not the point; it was her choice to make.
So the underlying message here is, basically, that if you just find the right guy, he will...make all your choices, control all your friends, sparkle in the sunlight, and control what you do every day 'for your own good'.
...
THIS BOTHERS ME. A LOT.
I mean, I'm not claiming that my taste in fantasy was very good when I was a tween/young teenager (which is what these books seem primarily aimed at), but...at least MY brain fluff well, had better messages than this brain fluff! (what's more, I acknowledged it as brain fluff and idealism; I didn't have a problem with it, it was entertainment, I was a cynical little bitch anyway because I started reading Pratchett when I was like 12)
My brain fluff of choice was Mercedes Lackey. As you already know, if you've a: read any of the books where there are Hawkbrothers and b: looked at my username.
Don't get me wrong. Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar books are sheer, unadulterated brain-fluff. But at least her brain-fluff has messages like:
-fight evil
-stand up for what's right
-stand with your family and friends
-learn how to be your own person
-find someone who loves you for who you are
-gay people aren't evil
-women are people too and deserve to make their own choices and stand on their own
-religion is all well and good, but fanaticism carries problems
-don't kill people if at all possible
-justice is good
-cultural differences are not bad things
AND SO ON.
Okay, so her books are idealistic and there are cliches everywhere, and the villains occasionally disturbed me a lot, but I feel like reading these books when I was still young and impressionable was not a bad thing. Okay, so I wanted to be a Herald when I grew up. So? It's no worse than Harry Potter fans wanting to go to Hogwarts (which I...also wanted, but gave up in favor of being a Herald). And being a Herald entails...
-fighting evil
-standing up for justice
-occasionally sacrificing your life to spare others
-defending the innocent
Whereas wanting your own Edward when you grow up seems to me to entail...
-having someone else make choices for you
-having someone else control who you talk to and see
-having someone make every important decision because they know what's good for you better than you do
...
I will take being a Herald any day of the week. Even though I know full well that they die a lot in the line of duty. AT LEAST THEY MAKE THEIR OWN LIFE DECISIONS. Okay, they answer to the King (or Queen) and the King's (or Queen's) Own, but that's their job.
...I think my brain fluff beats today's brain fluff. Just sayin'.
2009-04-16 [Fireblade K'Chona]: I've unlocked the diary entry, if any of you want to see it in my house instead of in the comments. :)
2009-04-16 [moira hawthorne]: hey hey ... well its here now.. i thinks its brill
2009-04-16 [Lord Josmar]: Truely brilliant observations
2009-04-16 [Yami]: beautiful my dear, beautiful *claps*
2009-04-16 [Lord Josmar]: I tried to explain this observation to someone at work and, for some reason, they wouldn't stop commenting on how a vampire really has no reason to go to college.
2009-04-16 [Fireblade K'Chona]: ...um...okay. That...so wasn't the point. And Bella's human...
Thanks for the commentary, though. :)
2009-08-04 [moira hawthorne]: hey Yami can you put these on the page... so they dont get lost in comments...??

2009-08-05 [Nekko fox]: Oh. Dear. gods. Beautiful. I want that so bad.
I want those shirts!
2009-08-05 [Nekko fox]: I found a couple of pictures regarding Twilight...if it isn't glaringly obvious, they were on 4chan.
2009-08-05 [Nekko fox]: Stephanie Meyer, the writer behind the wildly successful Twilight book, is being sued by a former friend for plagiarism--an
Heidi Stanton, who studied alongside Meyer at Brigham Young University in Utah claims Meyers stole the vampire story from her because it's very similar to a short story she wrote while they were attending college together.
Stanton filed her lawsuit against Meyer in Utah last Tuesday, April 14th alleging idea infringement. She states in the papers, "Quite frankly, I was shocked when I began watching the movie with my husband last week. I immediately told him that she got that idea from me! I wrote a fictional short story with the same ideas when we were in college together."
Meyer’s claims the storyline of the popular series came to her in a dream back in 2003. She completed Twilight three months later.

I left my own comment, but I don't know if it was posted yet. Mine should be at the bottom. I copied some of the things you said because you made valid points Moira. I hopes you not mad....

2009-08-05 [Nekko fox]: I see. Sorry Fireblade. You made adequate points that these people missed COMPLETELY.

2009-08-05 [Nekko fox]: No doubt.

2009-11-13 [Nekko fox]:
2009-11-13 [*Leric*]: lol the comments on that steven king thing are realy funny. "mormons should justs tick to what they do best..being mormon"
2009-11-13 [windowframe]: Orson Scott Card is also mormon, and most people seem to think that his first few books at least are good. <_<
2009-11-13 [*Leric*]: never heard of him. my mom is mormon.
2009-11-13 [windowframe]: :O He wrote Ender's Game. My [iippo] is mormon. :P
2009-11-14 [Nekko fox]: Ender's Game was pretty decent. Not life-changing, but decent.
2009-11-14 [windowframe]: Exactly how many books do you read that are life-changing? :P I mean, I'd argue that War and Peace and The Iliad are some of, if not the best, stories ever written - but I wouldn't call either of them life-changing.
2009-11-14 [Nekko fox]: Hm...Good point.
2009-11-14 [Nekko fox]: Wait! NO! NO NO NO!
The Soup Peddler's Slow and Difficult Soups: Recipes and Reveries by David Ansel! THAT book changed me...
2009-11-14 [Duke Devlin]: I've never read a book that's been life-changing.
2009-11-14 [Nekko fox]: David Ansel's book wasn't self-help, and he admits some parts of his story were fictionalized, but still...Amazin
Read it.
2009-11-14 [Duke Devlin]: Haha I have a massive list of books to read atm. I'll add it to it. What is it About~? ;)
2009-11-15 [Nekko fox]: It's the story of a guy in Texas who can't decide on a career path, and decides that he'll start peddling soup. so, he sends out e-mails to his neighbors and says "I'm going to make soup. Give me ten dollars, and I'll bring you soup!" It's a story about hard work, open minds, determination, community, friendship, and dreams.
2009-11-15 [Duke Devlin]: Hmm.. Sounds vaguely interesting. :P Might pick it up. :)
2009-11-15 [Nekko fox]: I'd advise it.
2009-11-17 [Duke Devlin]: :) I just picked up another book actually, which I intend to read next - 'The Lucifer Effect', written by Philip Zimbardo. (Anyone who has studied Psychology will know who this is. :P)
2009-11-17 [Nekko fox]: Never heard of it. Good read?
2009-11-19 [Duke Devlin]: Haha I haven't read it yet. :P Which is why I put 'I intend to read next'. :P I'll let you know. :)
2009-11-19 [Nekko fox]: Huzzah I say!
2009-11-19 [Duke Devlin]: Haha XD Anyway... :P I am not looking forward to the masses of New Moon gushings that I'm going to hear about, now it's in cinemas. X____X (Or will be, however soon).
2009-11-20 [Lord Josmar]: Bella just furthered herself as a horrible human being in this one. "Oh edward I love you!" *Edward leaves, enter Jakob*. "Oh Jakob I love you!" *Edward comes back* "Oh edward I love you!"
2009-11-20 [*Leric*]: I forgot that was coming out. and my dad said he was gunna take me to the movies this week...

2009-11-28 [Duke Devlin]: LMAO Love it. :D
2009-11-28 [windowframe]: I ended up watching the Twilight film the other day because of a theory about feminist language (Strong women use 'no' more, weak women use 'yes' more) and since I've heard so much about how weak Bella is, I thought I'd see how many yeses and nos she uses. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be - the acting was diabolic, yes, (at times it looked more like they'd forgotten their lines than tension :P) but it wasn't nearly as misogynistic as I'd been lead to expect. But maybe there's more of that in the books/second film. But in the film, I thought the situations where Bella comes off as helpless, she's not portrayed as being helpless because she's a girl, but because she's human (as oppose to vampire, wolf-thing, etc).

And we know what literature is.
2009-12-08 [Duke Devlin]: That's true. =/
2009-12-08 [moira hawthorne]: twilight asside... I prefer fictional characters over the actors who play them... the fiction is more real to me... Id long to met in person Eric or Nuada or Elric or Lazarus or any of dozen more... as dangerous as that maybe...
2009-12-08 [wicked fae mage]: I know what you mean there.
I love seeing them how the author describes and how I interpret their descriptions versus people who don't get the role of the character and who are trying to play them.

2010-11-06 [Yami]: huh?
2010-11-06 [wicked fae mage]: Well, click on the link and read through and look at the comma splices (misplacing them or neglecting them) and the grammar errors of ending sentences with prepositions or starting sentences that aren't quotes with but.
And I was implying that sex sells and 17 year old vampires are apparently a secret fetish that 40 year old women have been displaying, and to anybody who can incorporate that or more advanced writing abilities in a book, they have a chance at publication.
2010-11-06 [Nekko fox]: And wasn't Eddy the Vampire supposed to be 117 or something? So isn't his amorous advances towards that Bella thing pushing the age of consent?
2010-11-06 [wicked fae mage]: Yes, except sex was after she was past 18 so it'd be sexual deviancy not rape.
2010-11-06 [Nekko fox]: He still seduced a minor. And now she's a necrophiliac. Also, didn't she get bitten later and become some kind of retarded vampire hybrid after her vampire kid, sporting a full set of vamp teeth during birth, chomped her boob?
2010-11-06 [wicked fae mage]: Not sure about the details but she gave birth to a dhamphir and she becomes a vampire.
And I love my vamps too...
2010-11-07 [Nekko fox]: Know what I love? Zombies. World War Z, How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse, the Monster Book of Zombie stories, the movies, all very interesting. Of course, I also have no inclination to find monsters sexually attractive (any of them) so it's okay.
2010-11-07 [windowframe]: Does Necrophilia really apply if the corpse is still walking and talking? <_<
2010-11-07 [Nekko fox]: I don't know, is having sex with a lycanthrope bestiality?
2010-11-07 [windowframe]: IS it bestiality if you have sex with a normal person who pretends to be a pig for the duration?
2010-11-07 [wicked fae mage]: Oh, I love philosophical questions as a philosophy major.
2010-11-08 [Nekko fox]: Well, here's the million dollar question. What the hell was Stephenie Meyer smoking when she made this crap?
2010-11-09 [wicked fae mage]: Vampire glitter?
2010-11-09 [Nekko fox]: Okay.
2010-11-10 [Yami]: *falls off the couch, waking everyone in my house, including the trantula as I laugh*
2010-11-18 [moira hawthorne]: http://my.devi
2010-11-18 [*Leric*]: LOL
2010-11-18 [Nekko fox]: That is three kinds of terrifying I tell ya h'what.
2010-11-19 [Nekko fox]:
2010-11-19 [wicked fae mage]: I love that picture.
2010-11-20 [Nekko fox]: Beat the sparkle right outta him (it?).
2010-11-20 [wicked fae mage]: And he only had to hit him "1, 2 3 times...hahaha
Another uber vampire that I absolutely love:
2010-11-20 [Nekko fox]: Damned if he ain't a sexy son of a bitch! I'd like to pin him to my bed and have my way with him!
2010-11-20 [moira hawthorne]: NEKKO HE LOOKS LIKE HE WOULD TURN THE TABLES ON YOU MIGHTY DAMN QUICK!
2010-11-20 [wicked fae mage]: Lol I love him. He's a sangromancer and a planeswalker as well as a major card in my vampire deck for magic the gathering.
2010-11-20 [Nekko fox]: I wouldn't mind having the tables turned on me if HE was turning them. Yowza!
2010-11-20 [wicked fae mage]: Well, his ally betrays him and he leaves her to die at the mercy of nigh indestructible beings. He also allows his servants to feast on anything's blood he feels no need to spare.
Ditto to Nekko. :P~
2010-11-21 [wicked fae mage]:
2010-11-22 [Nekko fox]: Aww, good times.
